Sunboarding and School Holidays
We made the most of some early season storms and have had a handful of sweet powder days. However we've recently been treated to some beautiful sunshine and crisp winter conditions up the mountain. We've been working on our tans as well as our riding! I've got back in the park and have picked up a couple of new tricks, so far avoiding injury. The Olympic half-pipe has opened this week, which is awesome to watch, as is the 60ft jump run!
The school holidays brought loads of people to Wanaka so everywhere seemed crazy busy and full of kids. However the place has mellowed in the last couple of days and the kids have been replaced by some of the worlds best skiers and boarders that are in town for the big comps that are soon to kick-off.
The NZ winter games will begin next Friday and continue for over a week. Unfortunately I have my week long instructor exam at the exact same time. So while the rest of Wanaka is watching crazy tricks and insane snowboarding, I'll be on the nursery slope teaching the floating leaf. Hopefully I can make up for the loss by partaking in some of the after parties...
